  • Job Description

    - Plan and prepare menus for Residence functions in liaison with the Ambassador and/or other Embassy staff who are hosting the function.
    - Prepare dishes for functions and varying numbers of guests.
    - Cater for dietary requirements.
    - Source ingredients with attention to minimizing wastage, ensure food service is up to standard and related costs within budget.
    - Follow all appropriate health and safety standards related to food management and professional kitchen procedures.
    - Manage extra kitchen staff in coordination with the Butler.
    - Purchase food and other supplies in person for events from supermarkets etc.
    - Liaise with the Butler and Housekeeper if necessary.
    - Monitor the condition of the kitchen equipment and report maintenance issues in the kitchen to the Butler.
    - Reconcile expenditure accurately and in time for the monthly budget reports for the Embassy.
    - Provide advice and support to the Residence and Embassy staff before, during and after an event.
    - If necessary, train new staff at the residence in kitchen skills, food preparation, serving of food, table-setting.
    - The work environment is dynamic and from time to time characterized by high pace. You need to be proactive, solutions oriented, service minded, and have a large degree of flexibility, as well as the ability to quickly adjust to change and new directives.

Qualifications

  • Requirement

    - Ability in cooking, demonstrated extensive experience in preparing high quality Western dishes (minimum 5 years of experience as a chef), demonstrated experience in Scandinavian/Swedish cusines is considered a bonus.
    - Experience in Thai, European, Nordic and fusion cuisine
    - Ability in event preparation, including budget
    - Ability in equipment and kitchen hygiene
    - Team player & respectful nature
    - Readily accepts instruction
    - Flexible
    - Ability in food inventory and menu planning
    - Ability in food safety and food sanitation
    - English proficiency, speaking and writing
